Sailing
Captain Eddy Kieger and his wife Pia.
Eddy,
is a native of Germany and lived in Scandinavia for over 12 years. As a hobby,
he bought and sold a chain of prestigious restaurants, as well as sailing and
racing in and around Denmark. In addition to these hobbies, his extensive
business resume includes a 27 year career in marketing and sales for a German
chemical corporation. He was assigned to represent his company in foreign
countries, where he worked as the on-scene general manager. After 12 years
abroad, he returned to Munich, Germany as
a department leader for basic chemical materials in the head office.
Pia learned to cook at an early age from her mother in Denmark. After working for four years as the manager of Eddy’s most successful restaurant,
Pia continued to diversify her
cooking, often testing new recipes for the restaurant. She enjoys preparing a
wide variety of cuisines including Italian, Greek, French, and of course
Danish. She constantly adds new
and delicious recipes to her repertoire. Her past also includes working as a
Kindergarten teacher, so Pia is very comfortable with the children and
families who go sailing aboard DREAM. Her years of experience in the
hospitality business have prepared her to be a charming and gracious hostess
to everyone.
In 1994, ready for a change of lifestyle, they traded the cold northern waters and the hectic pace of the world for warmer
climate. Eddy and Pia decided to use
their management and
hospitality skills in a new and
rewarding lifestyle. They bought the sailboat DREAM and went sailing for the Caribbean. Since
then, Pia, Eddy and DREAM have explored exotic locales from the Virgin
Islands all the way south to Venezuela.
Eddy and Pia both delight
in sharing their love of the sea and sailing with
guests. They especially love to introduce both the experienced and
inexperienced guests to some of the special snorkeling and diving sites where
Eddy continues his hobby of underwater photography. Pia and Eddy welcome
families, friends, and people of all ages on board to enjoy being together in the Caribbean Sea aboard
a DREAM charter.
